Duration of study: 5 academic years, full-time study

300 credits required (60 for each year of full-time study). They are recruited from compulsory (70%), optional (20%) and optional (10%) disciplines.

At the discretion of the department in which the student is studying his special subject, he may be awarded up to 10 additional credits for the period of study for outstanding performances in the field of musical art and science.

– compulsory: special subject, introduction to music theory, pedagogy, philosophy, instrumental knowledge, musical folklore, solfege, choir conducting from score, foreign language, harmony, history of music, piano, course choir, choral studies, psychology, score reading, polyphony, musical analysis, music-theoretical systems, history of Bulgarian music, musical aesthetics, information and communication technologies and work in a digital environment, old Bulgarian music;

– music electives:

musical acoustics, introduction to musicology, vocal training and choral difficulties, history of art, composition, organ, symphonic orchestration, spectrum of musical influence, piano teaching methodology, church music, theory of compositional techniques in the second half of the twentieth century, history of Jazz, Music Arts Management, Improvisation, Research Project Approach and Implementation, Philosophy of Music, Latin and Musica, Early Music Texts

– optional: foreign language, sport, introduction to music software, foreign language II, intellectual property and copyright

– optional module for obtaining the professional qualification “teacher”:

  1. a) compulsory disciplines: hospitalization, music education methodology, current pedagogical practice, kindergarten education methodology, music education methodology in the school period (up to 10 years), internship practice, inclusive education, perception and impact of music, methodology of music education in the school period (up to 14 years), pedagogical psychology
  2. b) optional subjects: ethics, educational and educational techniques, musical didactics and music-learning material, music as a factor in inclusive education, musical training and the “lifelong learning” initiative, Method of graduation: Master’s thesis defense. For those who have chosen the module for acquiring the “teacher” qualification – and a state exam.

Opportunities for professional realization:

– to teach in secondary music schools and specialized arts schools;

– to provide musical theoretical training (solfege, elementary music theory) to students learning an instrument or singing in community centers, music schools and other musical organizations;

– to work as producers and editors in orchestras, radio and television, when making audio recordings, musical radio and television broadcasts;

– to work in film production, production of music CDs;

to organize concerts, performances, music festivals, competitions, etc.

– high and secondary music schools; recording, film, radio and television studios; orchestras, opera houses, musical theaters, etc. musical institutions; production companies.
