FOLK CHOREOGRAPHY

Study period: 4 years of part-time study.

A bachelor’s degree requires 240 credits. They are recruited from compulsory elective and optional subjects.

At the decision of the department, the student may be awarded up to 10 additional credits for the period of study for bright and prestigious artistic performances – concerts and awards from national and international competitions, etc.

– compulsory: “Composition of the Bulgarian folk dance”; “Pedagogy of the Bulgarian folk dance”; “Processing of Bulgarian dance folklore”; “Bulgarian folklore traditions and customs”; Historical Dances’; “Characteristic Dances”; “Theory of Musical Elements”; “Child Psychology”; “Musical Analysis”; “Pedagogy”; “Pedagogical practice”; “Sports”.

– elective: “History of Music”; “History of Art”; “History of Bulgarian folk choreography”; “Fundamentals of Directing”; “Stylistics”; “Musical Drama”, “Stage Folk Dance Patterns”; “Ethics”; “Music therapy”; “Philosophy of Music”; “Dance training for children”; “Modern Techniques”; “History of Bulgarian Ballet”; “Music and Dance Aesthetics”; “Educational Musical Theatre”.

– optional: “Digital sound and video processing”; “Foreign language” – Part I and II.

Method of graduation: State examination – Practical and Theoretical.

Job opportunities:

Every person who received the “Bachelor” degree as a choreographer-pedagogue in the direction “Folklore Choreography” acquires the right to work in:

Arts schools with a dance profile – choreography classes with folklore; cultural centers and community centers; to lead folklore dance ensembles, ensembles, clubs for Bulgarian folk dances; University majoring in choreography – folk dances; Kindergartens with dances.
