MUSIC AND STAGE DIRECTION

Study period: 4 academic years, full-time study.

A Bachelor’s degree requires 240 credits (60 for each year of full-time study). They are recruited from compulsory (70%), elective (20%) and optional (10%) disciplines.

At the decision of the department in which the student studies his special subject, he may be awarded up to 10 additional credits for the period of study for bright and prestigious artistic performances, participation in international festivals, awards from national and international competitions.

-compulsory: music and stage direction, acting, compulsory piano, plastic, rhythmic, stage speech, elementary theory of music, solfege, harmony, polyphony, history of music, opera dramaturgy, history of Bulgarian music, stage decor and costumes, introduction to musical and scenic art, musical aesthetics, stylistics, musical folklore, instrumental knowledge;

electives: fencing, make-up, stage combat, historical dances, musical analysis, phonology, vocal technique, Italian language, German language, Russian language;

– optional: English, French, sports dances, sports.

Method of graduation:

– production of a performance (or fragment) of an opera, operetta or musical in the Educational Music Theater or on another stage.

Opportunities for professional realization:

– professional qualification “director”;

– directors in musical or dramatic theaters;

– to stage operas, operettas or musicals;

– to teach the specialty in music educational institutions;

– experts in the system of education, science and arts;

– to be realized as a freelancer.
